Our Philanthropy
Theta's national philanthropy is CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates.
Throughout the year, Theta holds a number of events and sends the proceeds to CASA.  The money donated supports CASA volunteers as they help abused children find permanent homes where they can be safe.  Event's held include Kat's and Bats, Pansy Plants, and most recently 5KAQ Run For Your CASA.

Everyday decisions must be made in court about abused or neglected children's lives without sufficient information or legal protection for the children involved.  In 1990, a Seattle judge decided it would be beneficial to to use trained community voluteers to speak for the best interest of hese children in court. This program proved to be very successful and many judges across the country adopted this idea of using citizen advocates.  Later, the U.S. Congress promoted CASA with passage of the Victims of Child Abuse Act. Currently, more than 900 CASA programs exist, with 42,400 women and men serving as CASA volunteers.
Kats and Bats is an all day softball tournament.  Any organizations on campus are allowed to form a team and sign up for the competition.  Each team pays to play and all of the proceeds go to the CASA organization.
